LibreRouter project awarded FRIDA 2016 scale-up grant

AlterMundi was recently selected for a FRIDA award, a scale-up grant to develop the “LibreRouter”. The development of this product seeks to overcome the new regulations brought up by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) of the United States, that has enacted several administrative measures that forbid to router manufacturers to enable third-party developers to modify the firmware of the routers.

The goal of this new project of AlterMundi is to design and to produce high performance multi-radio wireless routers for the needs of community networks, taking into special consideration the economic, social and technological reality of Latin America and the Global South countries.
